Excursion to Pico Cão Grande: before the giant of São Tomé
A hike to Pico Cão Grande is one of the most impressive experiences for landscape and adventure lovers. This imposing volcanic monolith, over 600 meters high, covered in vegetation and frequently shrouded in fog, has become one of the most iconic symbols of São Tomé and Príncipe.
The hike to its base passes through rural areas, jungle trails, and natural viewpoints from where you can admire its majesty. The hike is entirely jungle, with the car passing through Emolve to reach the parking area. The hike is entirely jungle, and Cão Grande Peak can be seen a couple of times along the way. When you reach the base of the peak, it is so vertical that it looks like a large stone wall. It is possible to climb it if you are a professional climber; others have done it before.
The price does not include transportation. The departure point is Emolve, but it is also possible to meet the guide in the city and travel with him.
